This is an optional activity.
The aim of this activity is to improve your knowledge of the incidence of renal cancer in your country and region, and to ask you to research any differences between your local contexts and those in other parts of the world.
After completing the Units in this Module, you should:
1. Try to find out the prevalence of renal cancer in your country and, if possible, in your region.
Sources of information may include:
- The Office for National Statistics (ONS) in the UK
- The Internet
- National and local health and public libraries
- National and local health organisations
2. Identify differences between the incidence rate in your region and the rest of the country, or between your country and its neighbours. How does renal cancer compare to other cancers in your country? Are the numbers of cases increasing or decreasing?
3. If there is a marked difference in the occurrence between your local region and that of its neighbours, try to find out the possible reasons behind it.
