This is an optional activity.
The aim of this activity is to help you keep abreast of the research into new renal cancer treatments in your region or country.
After working through this Module, you should attempt the following tasks:
- Attempt to find out what clinical trials for new renal cancer treatments are underway in your country. Try to find out the main objectives/aims of each trial; the drug or treatment under investigation; the patient population; the trial design (randomised, placebo-controlled, double blind etc.); and the location of the trial sites. The Internet can help you to find this information. Search using the terms ‘kidney cancer clinical trials [your country]’ with major search engines such as Google or Yahoo.
- Try to find further information about molecular markers and their use for predicting drug response in other cancers, such as breast and lung cancer. Again, the Internet can help you. Search using the terms ‘molecular/biological markers in breast cancer’ or similar.
You can keep a record of your findings in your Personal Learning Record.
